About Us2ndhandShop is a business based in Montmorency in the north east of Melbourne, Australia. Our new shop (opening 22nd April 2010) is at 10 Binns Street, Montmorency (Opposite the Montmorency train station). We also have a stall at the Smith Street Bazaar, 305 Smith Street, Fitzroy, 3065.
Our philosophy is to trade in more environmentally sound recycled 2ndhand goods. We believe in the growing need to provide practical outlets for people to make greater sustainable and ethical buying choices. We often restore or reupholster our furniture in order to give it another lease on life. Vintage furniture is not only more often better made than most contemporary furniture it also has the benefit of leaving a smaller environmental footprint behind the longer it is in service On top of this, a fabulous vintage lounge suite, for example, will still often cost you less financially than a comparable contemporary suite. If in 5 to 10 years the contemporary suite also ends up in landfill because of its overall poorer construction, then it costs us all a lot more in the longer term. On a lighter note, we also have a passion for good design, things unusual or rare & other stuff we just think could be useful to you.

We are always looking to buy good quality 1950's - 70's furniture and objects. We are particularly after good Australian furniture pieces by Fler, Parker, Danish De Luxe, or Grant Featherston. Call or email us if you are clearing the contents of a deceased estate, downsizing your home, or even before you have that spring clean garage sale. We service a wide area in the inner and north/north-eastern areas of Melbourne.
